Censors from the British Board of Film Classification, BBFC have recognized, that don't cut out stages of violence from the films intended for adult – after 18 years - audience any more. In total, in 2007 only one percent from the pictures intended for distribution has demanded intervention of censors, in 2006 there were three percent of such films, in 1970 - 25 percent.

BBFC policy has caused bewilderment and criticism in the influential lobbist group Media Watch UK, aspiring to limit films releases with stages of violence and erotic. Media Watch UK representatives have publicly declared the indignation to BBFC after David Cronenberg's the newest film "Eastern Promises" has received the distribution sanction with restriction "under 18 years of age", and each and every stages of violence in the picture have remained not changed.

BBFC position at the same time is formulated differently: adults have the right to choose what they will watch. "If the Board will start to cut out each stage able to offend somebody then people will remain without a choice. Who have to decide, what adult people should or should not watch?", - one of BBFC representatives has told.
